Info about ClassicPress:

  Goodbye WordPress Gutenberg! Hello ClassicPress
    https://omukiguy.com/hello-no-wordpress-gutenberg-hello-classicpress/
      [12 jul 2019]
Very good discussion of the history and effects of WP move to Gutenberg in core,
and the history, goals, and methods of ClassicPress.
"[Gutenberg] It’s the end of the backend as we know it."
Comment by NWwoman on 8 oct 2019 reflects exactly how i feel about CP and WP.

      [3 aug 2019]
With a summary of the history and effects of WP move to Gutenberg in core.
"WordPress has resolved to support the classic Editor plugin
until Dec 2021 and this is the only promise all plugins rely on
for backward compatibility. Unless you stick to WordPress 4.9.9,
your plugins that are not Gutenberg compatible might break if
they interact with the new block Editor."

Notes:

Gutenberg is not built in, but it and other page builders are
    available as plugins.

Any WordPress plugins that work with WordPress 4.9.x will work
    fine with ClassicPress 1.x.

ClassicPress may diverge with version 2, but the developers
are doing everything possible so that it will remain
backwards-compatible for as long as possible

      https://trends.builtwith.com/cms/ClassicPress
We suspect there are more, as it is tricky to
get a real count of usage of any technology.
